Meet the Team

Patrick Panier

Patrick’s love for cooking and focus on using quality ingredients commenced growing up around the village markets of the south-west of France and spending time in his grandmother’s kitchen. ⬢ Learn more He undertook an apprenticeship in a traditional Auberge in the South of France. His versatility has evolved by working in different places around the world - bringing influences from Europe, Tunisia – North Africa, Bora Bora in French Polynesia, Vanuatu, the East Coast of Australia and the Vineyards of the South West. Patrick offers a fusion of tastes with rustic elegance and works with the best ingredients to make each dish uncomplicated, yet a colour and flavour experience. The French influence on the bistro menus has a subtle presence.

Emma Panier

Emma grew up in an agricultural farming community in Western Victoria, heading to Sydney to study upon finishing school. ⬢ Learn more From early on Emma was passionate about looking after peoples’ needs and travelling was always high on the agenda. After studiing hotel management, she completed a corporate traineeship with an international hotel chain and studied human resources. After meeting Patrick Panier they have continued to travel and work in hospitality and human resources. Six years ago Patrick and Emma took up the challenge of opening their own venue and have had a couple of kids along the way!

Etro Bar is an exclusive intimate roof top venue in the heart of the city overlooking historic King Street

It is an all weather multipurpose venue. When the weather permits, the blinds are up and the venue is al fresco and delightful. When the weather is not so good, café blinds keep the wind and rain out. Etro Bar can be heated during the winter months and fans provide relief from the heat in Summer.

The following are included when you hire the venue (as required):

Etro Bar can accommodate varied setups:

  • Cocktail for up to 100 guests
  • Seated for up to 55 guests
  • Theatre style for up to 65 guests
  • Class room for up to 40 guests
  • Breakout groups (rectangular tables) for up to 55 guests
  • We have experience with other types of setups: presentations, launches, orientations, meetings, workshops and special retail sales
  • Etro Bistro Bar (ground floor) available also

Catering can be customized as we have access to full kitchen facilities: we offer a wide range of catering options for morning/afternoon tea, lunches, dinners, cocktail functions, high tea.

All our food is prepared in-house from our bistro kitchen. Head Chef/Owner Patrick Panier and his team ensure all our function catering is looked after with care and attention.

We have a selection of menus to cater for all types of functions and customised menus are possible and are limited only by your imagination and budget. Our range of menu options for meals and cocktail functions are outlined in our Function Pack. High Tea and catering menus are also available.

Etro Bar is a unique single venue on the roof over looking King Street. As we have just the one venue to offer, we propose time blocks to help with your decision making. If your requirements fall outside of these time blocks, overlap or require half or full days, please contact our function coordinator to discuss your needs.

Etro Bar operates with a Small Bar License, so is able to trade:

  • 7am – 12am Monday – Saturday
  • 10am – 10pm Sunday. Some public holiday restrictions apply.

Venue Hire

$400 for up to 4 hours, then $100 per hour thereafter.

Dates can be held for up to three working days. To secure a booking we request a $500 deposit. The balance is payable on the day of your function. Deposits are non-refundable for cancellations within 7 days of event date.
